A new brand introduced
Since what we do for a living will be highly involved with our Survey Engine, we have finally decided to make another progress step by giving it a proper brand name. And without a doubt we match the brand with its domain name which is http://www.siamsquare.org.
But to make the move one step further, apart from a brand name alone, we also have developed a logo. So, when combining them together it should be more powerful to its branding and hopefully it would be seen as one of the easier medium for consumers to remember and recall in the future.
And below shows how this new branding introduction
actually looks like in a visual term.
Of course when time goes by, who knows how the logo may become. We may twist it a bit, improve it a bit, etc. But we still believe it will be more or less the same as what we see today.
Therefore welcome SiamSquare to our family!
VAT registration
In order to ensure we are aligned with Thai government regulation, we have registered with the VAT certificate
with the The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance
.
The process has been quite painful because it requires quite a lot of efforts including the workspace arrangement at the venue we registered for the company, plus having the actual company signage placed very clearly in front of the venue around the entrance area.
And there is also a requirement to have staff from The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance
come and visit inspect our venue, plus conduct some interviews with the company owner on potential usage of VAT in the future.
Since the starting of this process by initialing such request via the online portal of The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance , so far we have managed to complete all the processes without experiencing any problems at all.
And staff from The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance , who came to our venue, told us that we would get the VAT certificate within one month, so we are expecting to get the official completed document by middle of October 2016.
Apart from that they also told us that we still need to submit the very first accounting paperwork to them within 30 days regardless of having the actual sales or revenues run through the account or not. We will connect with our finance partner on this again.
Company signage
We need to have a company signage placed in front of the office location.
This will show to the government people from The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance to realise that we take it seriously. They will come and visit the venue once we start the process of VAT registration.
This means we need someone to build a signage for us very quickly. The signage will basically be the logo of the company plus the full company name.
And after having done some homework, we have concluded that the signage that we want to get will be in a form of acrylic signage
which will give a more 3D look, and will be much better than the ordinary sticker-based signages.
Below is the picture of the tentative look of our signage (based on our initial in-house graphic design).
Please be noted that the above signage was developed with help from our best friend, benjy. So, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you
to her for all supports she has ben provided throughout two decades. Many things would be possible without her support both functionally and emotionally.
Bank account
Now we have a bank account for the company (5 August 2016).
After spending quite a lot of efforts in preparing documents that are required by the bank, a new bank account has been finally opended. As it is the account to be used purely for the business, we have decided to open it under current account (e.g. using cheque for making payments or withdrawing money from this account).
And to further enhancing the banking experience, we have also applied for the account to be accessible with the internet. We hope this will give a more flexibility to account usage in the future especially for the balance checking and some quick money transfer. But be noted that at this stage, we still do not know if money transfer can be done with the internet access. We shall wait and see on this.
The bank we chose is as expected which is Kasikorn Bank , the only bank that we always use.
And we chose the branch that is located in the shopping mall, Seacon Square (it is a new branch which is located on the third floor). The key reason we choose the bank branch that is located in the shopping mall is because their operating hours are more flexible and we may be able to have some transactions, if any at all, done outside the regular office hours.
Company registration
Today we mark another big step progress to our company history. We have successfully completed the company registration
with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce
.
This process started and ended within only two days ago, the actual completion was on 27 July 2016.
As we have heard from many people on how really difficult it could be to deal with this government sector, we decided to hire a third party to conduct this particular process for us. And as expected, it involves with a lot of paperwork and signatures.
In fact our first impression with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce was not really positive since the company name reservation that we did online had faced an unexpected difficulty which was the requirement from their website to be accessed with only Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 9. How really unprofessional it could be.
Although we have done the registration with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce , there is still another important step in this process to be completed, which is the registration on the Value Added Tax (VAT) with The Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance .
But because there are some requirements for VAT registration, the actual process will need to be done once we have all things prepared according to their requirement. We currently estimate this process to be completed within the next 1-2 weeks.
